Scary upgrade thing

OK, so what you're saying is "apt-get dist-upgrade" and then just  
"apt-get install" whatever was removed...
Do you have any idea of why this has to be done? Seems a bit wierd to  
me... At least the task should be automated, so that really newbie  
Linux people also could manage doing an upgrade.
