screen "dirt" in non kde apps

Hi all,

I am  new to kubuntu, I've shift from Suse and I am glad of that. My laptop 
runs considerably faster. But I have a little problem since two days ago. I 
can't remember doing anything special but the thing is that non KDE 
applications (firefox or NVU) doesn't display very well. I see a lot of lines 
and dirt when scrolling. This is not happening with Kde applications. I've 
changed the resolution in KDE but I don't know how to do anything for the 
other aplications.

Any help will be very appreciated.
