Samba signon question

I have Samba running and I know where to find the smb.conf file.  I know 
this because my Kubuntu machine shows up and it shows up in the 
workgroup MSHOME as I set it by editing the smb.conf file.

Now the problem is when I click on the link in my Windows machine I get 
a username and password dialogue, but typing in my username and password 
for my Kubuntu machine does now allow access.

What do I do about this?
