Recognition of CD/DVD drive with Ubuntu

Hi all,

I've just installed Ubuntu on the second drive of my laptop.  This is a 
great solution for me since I can get used to using Ubuntu before I 
completely get rid of Windows on the other drive, can continue to use 
Win-based software that I need until I get emulation software for Linux.

A glitch, though.  Everything installed very nicely except the Ubuntu does 
not recognize the CD/DVD drive on my laptop.  Has anyone else had this 
problem and what did you do about it?  Help, please!
