A couple of questions?

I have about two months using linux and so far I am just trilled with 
it, but I have some questins is there a way to get AMD cool n quiet 
inlinux.
Also at the beginning I just notice at the beggining I get  a warning 
message saying

no final line at end of /etc/fstat What that means??
Also do I need cups and Xpring. I am just wondering.
