That's kubuntu-desktop

There's no big difference but you end up with quite a lot of functionality 
duplication because you often have two tools to do the same job - e.g. gnome 
system tools and knetworkconf for network interface configuration.

I guess you don't really need to have two of everything so you might like to 
take a look at kubuntu-desktop's dependencies and only install those packages 
that interest you instead of installing everything.  Start with kdebase and 
kubuntu-defaults for a minimal KDE environment.
