KMail in Last Friday's Image (x86)

Greetings...

Downloaded the Friday image of Kubuntu and installed it on my laptop.  Only 
real problem so far is that Kmail refuses to work.  Hard disk grinds away for 
a while ... and then nothing.  Tried running the bin file ... but same 
result.  Anyone found the work-around??

Don't forget to add a dummy /etc/resolv.conf file ... so that kppp can work 
for dial-up!!
