Not able to change KDM theme settings

Hello,

I can't change KDM theme settings when trying to switch to "Administrator 
Mode". Instead I'm redirected to some kind of kcontrol info screen (the one 
you get when starting kcontrol). When I create a root account, I can switch 
to "Administrator Mode" and change settings - nevertheless, I don't see any 
changes (like the GUI style and background KDM should use) even after 
restarting KDM and X in general.

Can anybody help?
