AMD-64 and Flash plugin

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a working
Flash plugin for AMD-64 linux?  Kynaptic shows a
package:
libflash-mozplugin 0.4.11-2

But when I install it, Firefox just crashes on any
page with flash.  Macromedia's flash plugin for linux
won't install when it detects a 64-bit system.  Is
this even doable, or am I better off running my whole
system with a 32-bit OS if I expect any plugins to
work?
