</div>Ultimately we'd get message-indicator support in which case it would<br>
show up in the m-i plasmoid, failing to get that I suppose adding the<br>
presence plasmoid to the default setup is the way to go IMHO.<br></blockquote><div> </div><div>The presence plasmoid allows you to control whether you're online, away, etc. Which (AFAIK) isn't built into m-i. It also makes using KTp a lot easier to use, as it acts as a sort of "dock" for the contact list. If you do add it to the default setup, I would add it into the system tray, rather than in the panel. </div>
<div><br></div><div>If the plasmoid isn't running the contact list gives a warning when you first close saying "you're closing the contact, you will still remain online and have nothing to show you this. Add the plasmoid!". (the wording is slightly different, I can't remember what it is exactly). </div>
<div><br></div><div>tl;dr: Adding it to the default would be really useful.</div><div><br></div><div>The outstanding issue with message-indicator (<a href="https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=303473">https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=303473</a>) is going to need to be patched downstream. With my KTp hat on, it's your message indicator duplicating stuff we do - and we can't remove it as not every distro uses m-i, so there's nothing we can do.</div>
<div>Last time it was discussed we did have a plan on how this patch could work, I think it's in the ML thread linked to on the bug report.</div><div><br></div><div>Dave</div><div><br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">
