To make this easier to read, I took out the queuebot lines and other
stuff not connected to our upload:
slangasek> santa_, acheronuk: why do most of these kubuntu uploads
appear not to share history with the Debian KDE packages, despite
having later versions? I thought Kubuntu worked closely with the
Debian KDE maintainers
<slangasek> bsanta_, acheronuk: random example: kf5-messagelib in
Debian unstable has some Breaks/Replaces not present in the Ubuntu
version just uploaded
<slangasek> and there are symbols file differences that look
suspiciously like you'll have build failures on some archs that have
already been fixed in Debian
<slangasek> santa_, acheronuk: (analitza) you should really never
need to bump the minimum version of symbols in symbols files, and it
makes it rather difficult to sanity-check the diff for accidentally
dropped symbols
<slangasek> santa_: is it really correct that audiocd-kio 16.04.3 has
no changes from 15.12.3?
<valorie> slangasek: "why do most of these kubuntu uploads appear not
to share history with the Debian KDE packages, despite having later
versions? I thought Kubuntu worked closely with the Debian KDE
maintainers" -- we used to share packaging on their git
<valorie> but they never used our packaging, and their git had so many
timeouts that we moved it back to LP git
<valorie> we do merge whenever possible
<slangasek> valorie: well, codehosting in lp is one thing; but I'm
seeing a lot of these packages that clearly haven't merged packaging
from what's currently in Debian unstable
<valorie> slangasek: probably we packaged them weeks ago
<valorie> I hope we'll solve that problem soon
<valorie> we're doing too much extra work
<slangasek> valorie: and then, curiously, there are packages such as
libkdeedu which Debian has removed as 'obsolete', but are in the queue
now with new upstream versions (?)
<valorie> slangasek: I will pass this along to our packagers
<valorie> and we'll get it cleaned up ASAP
<slangasek> valorie: cheers
<valorie> thank you for the useful feedback
