Well that only took forever, sorry for that. Rohan got us some fancy
4.8.5. packages in our experimental PPA. These packages still contain
patches and reflect what we currently have heading towards 14.04.

Packages for 13.10 and 12.04 are now available in:

ppa:kubuntu-ppa/experimental

(to be promoted to the backports archive for general consumption)

If the issue still persists with that version we'll have to
selectively rip out patches and see how that goes. However in a quick
patch review I didn't find anything particularly close to either the
graphicsscene nor the javascript magic, so I really would not even
know where to begin :/
