I've seen that and I am glad to see the work getting done. On reflection, I think I am mostly unhappy about an alpha release getting uploaded to the archive and then left.
In the future we should probably wait for at least an RC.
Also, Kubuntu devs should be sure to use GUI package management tools at least some of the time. I try to, but I had little time this last cycle.
