Waste of space has always been my major objection to the transition to Dolphin 
from the old Konqueror file manager.  The main thing about a file manager is the 
files, so if we can reduce the wasted space and give more screen real estate 
for actual file management, I think that's good.  I think this is particularly 
true on small screens.
