There are plenty of reasons to show that HTML email is rude.

http://www1.american.edu/cas/econ/htmlmail.htm
http://www.birdhouse.org/etc/evilmail.html

So if an email client use HTML email by default, it is encouraging a
rude approach when writing email.

Obviously, this is bad. Because new users will choose a bad style
writing an email.
