Update: I did push 4.2.4 to jaunty-backports. I also added the post-release security patchesa, the Yahoo IM compatibility patch, and the Kmail DIMAP lost directory patch from jaunty-security/updates/proposed. I strongly recommend anyone running the PPA versions to updgrade.
One side benefit of this is that upgrades from Jaunty with Backports enabled is supported, whereas upgrades from a PPA are not, so if anyone has upgrade problems, it's a valid bug (I did upgrade last night from backports without any 4.2.4 related issues).

Me too. This will require discipline from upstream as well. I noticed that 4.2.4 picked up some Universe dependencies (not sure if it was .3 or .4). If I had been targeting -updates instead of -backports this would have been a problem (I did not check how essential these were either).
