qestion on on kubuntu netbook edition

good afternoon...

been  working on Kubuntu 9.10o Netbook editin and ha a couple of questions.
When I firt startup, I have all the icons/section groups etc in them.
However when I drill into one of the groups (Internet, Utilities, etc) and
then go back to the Home, these icon groups drop off:  Bookmarks, Contacts,
system Settings.

I have completly updated this afternoon so nothing is out of date etc, just
wondering if anyone else has had something similar
