When 4.0 came out it was billed as a developer release and we were told 
to wait for 4.1.  It just seemed strange to be told the same thing for

I think sometimes developers and packagers forget that they have 
"privileged" information not easily available to us "ordinary" users.  
We need just a little more detail to understand.  :@)

I want to thank you all for being so nice about it.  It would have been 
easy for you to snap at me for asking such a "dumb" question, as happens 
on some other lists but thankfully not on Ubuntu lists!  :@)
