problems since latest updates

Good afternoon,

I updated my system this morning when I came into work and connected to the 
internet.  Since then I have had problems with both Kaffine and 
Konversatation "freezing."  In Konversatation, I stop receveing new messages 
but am able to switch tabs between the different channels.  In Kaffiene 
everything just freezes.  I can kill these tasks, but then the rest of KDE 
seems to lock up.  I can't open new applications, but can move between 
current maximized icons.

Any thoughts?
