inconsistent use of the words "suspend" and "sleep" on the desktop

I disagree as both are technical terms (though correct).

standby is usually a state where the system still needs some power (i.e. my TV 
does). Hibernate is a little more tricky, but I still think it's chosen well. 
It's usually a state where the sleep is longer and deeper than standby, at 
least that's what I connect to the words. Also, they're known from the 
Windows world already.

What terms does OSX use here, does anyone know?
