CUPS and Kubuntu Dapper

Well, that is the problem. CUPS config works only with GNOME. If you don't
add the printer from within GNOME as you did, KDEPrint won't be able to do
it. I wouldn't say that CUPS works fine in dapper Kubuntu if you first need
to use GNOME to set it up. Of course, in Ubuntu they don't have such a
problem and it works perfectly.
