Mounting floppy in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 3.5 problem is receiving wide
hearing.

There is a Q&A article on this problem in Tux Magazine that I read
today, article is called "Q&A with Mango Parfait"

All they did is suggest a workaround - doing a nice
mount /media/floppy
thing.
