problems playing CDs

Its funny I've never really had the need to listen to an audio cd on my 
laptop, I have a rotating collection of mp3's and .oggs that I listen.  But 
tonight I tried to listen to a CD with Kaffiene and was prompted for the 
location of CD rom but didn't have anything in the drop down. Knowing how 
things work, ther is more then one way to skin a cat so I launched kscd and 
couldn't get any audio.

any others having problems with this?  Dapper Flight6 with latest updates
