Is there any update on this? 
I agree with Kevin that data loss can be a buzz but when advocating for the bells and whistles of linux and KDE as a pro business environment, sending an annotated  pdf that others can't view is even worst (I've just been hit by that).

It's been quite a few years since I've coded in C++ and Qt so I can't be
of use in coding but I can help with testing if needed.
