It appears the problem is related to lightdm and PAM:

Mar 25 23:26:07 zlink2 lightdm[840]: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_kwallet.so): /lib/security/pam_kwallet.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Mar 25 23:26:07 zlink2 lightdm[840]: PAM adding faulty module: pam_kwallet.so
Mar 25 23:26:07 zlink2 lightdm[840]: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_kwallet5.so): /lib/security/pam_kwallet5.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Mar 25 23:26:07 zlink2 lightdm[840]: PAM adding faulty module: pam_kwallet5.so
Mar 25 23:26:07 zlink2 lightdm[840]: pam_succeed_if(lightdm:auth): requirement "user ingroup nopasswdlogin" not met by user "derk"

I'm not sure if this is a problem specific to lightdm, or a general PAM
problem that would affect gdm3 in normal Ubuntu too.

Please look into the causes of the above errors on your machine.

** Package changed: ubuntu => lightdm (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: lightdm (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => New

** Package changed: lightdm (Ubuntu) => kwallet-pam (Ubuntu)
