Thanks for the response, it is about 3 yrs too late now though.

I do not have the issue with later versions of ubuntu, i think I found a
convoluted workaround 3 yrs ago (can't for the life of me remember what
that was..)

Feel free to close as no one sane would be running 15.04 now..
