Insurance details depend on the therapist.

In general, they're not like, special online therapists. They're just
therapists, that also decided to offer an online option. So for
example Anne Vitale treats patients in person in California, but also
has the Skype option. Her insurance policy is that she'll fill out any
forms your insurance needs for reimbursement, if your insurance covers
it.

I don't know what kind of insurance you have. If you have the type of
insurance that has "in network" and "out of network" providers, it's
better to find an in-network provider. But an out-of-network
provider is a decent back up option if no in-network ones are available.

At any rate, an easy thing to do is research a list of online
therapists, check their websites for insurance policies or contact
them and ask if you cannot find the info, and then narrow them down
based on which ones seem to match your insurance policy the best,
so that you have them as a back-up option. Maybe have a session or
two now, explain your situation, with the possibility of going back
for further sessions as needed if local options don't work out in
time.
