I see something similar. After 12h running without any action on my part
(during the night), plasmashell went from ~130MB of RAM to ~2GB, with a
constant 2% usage of CPU.

x64 Kubuntu 16.04
plasma-workspace : 4:5.5.5.2-0ubuntu1
