Public bug reported:

Plasma 5.5 should provide support for applications using the older xembed systemtray protocol.
Unfortunately, this does not still work as it should.

Java apps and specifically jitsi (a voip application) fail to provide a
working systemtray icon with xembedsniproxy. At times the icon appears,
at times it does not and even when it appears it is non-functional (i.e.
clicking on it does not open any menu).

Jitsi reports that the systemtray did not initialize.

The issue may be due to the fact that the xembedsniproxy crashes quite
often.
