This bug is still occurring with fully up-to-date Ubuntu LTS 14.04.2 x86_64's firefox 38.0+build3-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 :
After opening a large number of pages and leaving firefox running for a while, I get this firefox message on stderr 
each time I load a new page
$ firefox file:///$some_local_web_page &
...
(process:27822): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

And often then the page does not display correctly (frames are not
displayed).
