[Bug 1315637] [NEW] unable to fetch mails from certain IMAP servers after upgrade to kubuntu 14.04

the problem is already described in detail here:

however, as it turns out, it seems to be present in kubuntu 14.04 only,
not in 13.10 with PPA packages of KDE 4.13. so it's probably not a
problem in KDE SC 4.13, but caused or at least triggered by linked
packages in kubuntu 14.04.
