On version 4.13.2 this problem began two days ago. There may have been
Fedora updates precipitating the start.

Duplicate emails are disabled in the message list and can not be
selected or deleted. If I stop Kontact/Kmail and start another email
client, SeaMonkey in my case, the duplicate emails will not be present.
If, and only if, I select the folder which contained duplicates in
KMail, and then restart KMail, the duplicates will be gone.
