Me too I did "rm ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-*" (after saving those files), and restarted p-d.
Then recreate your desktop, with help of the original plasma-desktop-appletrc to remember the elements on your previous desktop.
Noticed that multiple-windows dont work that well anymore and the window-selector applet is no longer available.
