Public bug reported:

I cannot get quassel to connect at start to the core through an http
proxy. Gives me the error "Operation on socket is not supported". If i
start a connection to a dummy core, waiting for the failure, and then
back to the one with the proxy, the connection starts without any
problem.

the bug has been also reported to quassel bug tracker and seems to have
also a fix: http://bugs.quassel-irc.org/issues/1160
