Seems rather serious to me. Currently there are at least three packages
in the ubuntu repos (oxygen-gtk for gtk2 and gtk3 and qtcurve) that -
once installed - may make many gtk applications stop working, in such a
way that they silently hang.
A troublesome aspect is thatI would like to report that after upgrading
to raring, some kde systems come out without the module that enables the
configuration of the gtk themes in the kde systems settings (the deb is
not installed). This means that working around the issue by inviting kde
users to configure gtk not to use the oxygen or the qtcurve theme may be
tricky. Here the workaround involves root permissions to force the
uninstall of oxygen-gtk, qtcurve or the install of the kde system
settings module, or alternatively inviting users to hand edit the gtkrc
file.
