I'm not sure what you are trying to say with the last comment.    
Do you want me to attach each of the original (saved)
~/.kde/share/config/plasma*          files?

Or, attach copies of the current files, since the problem is still
happening...

I forgot to say that I did a "rm -rf" in ~/.kde/share/apps/plasma/plasmoids/
before I starting removing icons from my desktop, and restarting p-d.
