I was able to fix synaptikscfg crash by installing Raring version (kde-
config-touchpad_0.8.1-1ubuntu3):

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/s/synaptiks/kde-config-
touchpad_0.8.1-1ubuntu3_all.deb

"synaptiks" still crash though, with the same problem.
