Public bug reported:

When the screen is locked in kde 4.10, it is no-longer possible to
unlock it. This is the case regardless of lock mechanism (suspend,
manual lock, screen-locker test). This is only happening since upgrading
from kubuntu quantal to kubuntu raring. There is no way to exit the
lockscreen other than killing X or hard rebooting.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1239119#p1239119 , with the
only solution "try a new user profile". I'd prefer not to loose all my
KDE settings.
