You have been subscribed to a public bug:
After pressing CTRL+I to get the media information of a file VLC starts
freezing and Xorg uses all left memory and the system starts swapping,
so it is pretty unusable until killing vlc with killall vlc. After vlc
is killed the memory is freed again and the system is usable again.
1) Using Ubuntu 12.10 64Bit version.
2) VLC version 2.0.4-0ubuntu1. Xorg version 1:7.7+1ubuntu4
3) Expected behaviour is that media information is shown as in previous releases.
4) System freezes like described above.
