The "Delete" action in the "Image" menu should say "Move to Trash" instead of "Delete". If you right click on a picture the context menu action says "Move to Trash", and both the "Delete" and "Move to Trash" actions do the same thing. (Move things to the trash)
Deleting usually means to permanently erase the picture.
