@tkedwards: it seems the initial bug description was forgotten during
the discussion: Trying to use muon-updater , but it doesn't work. When
selecting Install updates, the following message appers: "This operation
cannot continue since proper authorization was not provided"

I just did sudo apt-get install --reinstall polkit-kde-1, then tried to
use muon-updater again. I still receive precisely the same error
message. So what exactly are the problems reported in this bug which
were fixed?

I think this bug led to the discovery of some problems which were indeed
fixed, but the root cause for this particular problem was neither
identified nor fixed.
