I wrote to Philip (thank you very much) and here is the answare:

"The package for digikam 2.2.0 is now called digikam and not digikam2 on
my PPA. This changed with my 2.2.0 package release to follow the
official Ubuntu package naming for digikam 2.x. this naming isn't the
same as in debian."

I will give a try... stay tuned
