Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdeadmin

Unlike applications like adobe reader or gnomes evince KDEs application
are not able to remember printer settings (like duplex). Furthermore,
they also ignore the CUPs default settings. Please note that, for a
user, it is really annoying to change the options, e.g. from single-side
to duplex, in every new printing job.

This a caused by an old QT-bug. However, users are not interested in
knowing who is responsible for the bug. The want to use their system.

Fortunately, there is a patch solving the problem.

Is it possible to integrate this patch into (k)ubuntu until some day in
far future an also working common printer dialog (for gnome and kde)
will replace the qt-dialog (kde currently uses)?

Please, see for more details (and the patch):

** Affects: kdeadmin (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
