[Bug 788262] [NEW] Screen goes black when desktop effects are enabled on power connect

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have set all battery powered profiles to disable desktop effects.
Normal performance profile has effects enabled. When I connect power
plug the screen goes black. I just get white cursor which can be moved
around. As soon as I disconnect power display returns to normal as
effects get disabled. It also doesn't go black if effects are not
enabled automatically (by modifying power profiles accordingly or
disabling effects globally). When power is connected switching effects
on and off works fine.

This is on Kubuntu 11.4, upgraded from Kubuntu 10.10 with Intel's 945GM
graphics.
