Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: dolphin
I use Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64, KDE 4.5.3, Dolphin 1.5. After some upgrade I
am not longer able to play files via smb:// kioslave in VLC - they
always start to be copied to /tmp directory instead of playing (as VLC
supports smb:// itself)
I tried VLC 1.0.6 and 1.1.5 - the result is the same. Konqueror does the
same thing - copies files not plays them.
I double-checked .desktop file for VLC - it contains 'vlc %U' which means it should work OK, while it's not.
At the same time, Dragon player is able to play such video streamed over smb:// without downloading.
** Affects: dolphin (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
