Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: digikam
Digikam is pretty slow when indexing jpeg2000 files. Much slower than
alternative software and seemingly uses more memory. It crashes
repeatedly, not on the same file though. Have received segmentation
fault errors among others.
One suggestion for developers. Since JPEG2000 support progressive
decoding (layers), if stored that way, preview images are usually not
necessary. Just pull out the information need for the actual resolution.
I.e., for preview maybe a few kb, fullscreen 50-100kb etc.
