Public bug reported:

python-sip 4.12.1-0ubuntu1: amd64

Description:    Ubuntu 10.10
Release:        10.10

After a recent update, some qt-enabled applications will no longer run.
Typical output:

File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/pkg_resources.py", line 467,
in run_script  self.require(requires)[0].run_script(script_name, ns)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/pkg_resources.py", line 1200,
in run_script  execfile(script_filename, namespace, namespace)
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/Mnemosyne-1.2.2-
py2.6.egg/EGG-INFO/scripts/mnemosyne", line 11, in <module>
    from qt import *
RuntimeError: the sip module implements API v8.0 but the qt module
requires API v7.0

Deprecating python-sip to 4.10.5-0ubuntu1 solves this problem.

** Affects: sip4-qt3 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
