Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kdepim
Not sure if it’s KMail, KAdressbook or Akonadi. I’m using a freshly
installed Kubuntu Maverick here. Maverick is fully updated, Kontact
version is 4.4.6.
What I did was remove the two default address books, if I remember
correctly they were called ‘Default Address Book’ or something like
that, as soon as I opened Kontact. Then I imported two existing address
books, ‘family’ and ‘others’. Everything seemed to work fine, until I
tried to select a recipient in KMail’s composer.
I can choose there from ‘All’, ‘Default Address Book’ (which was already
deleted and no longer exists), ‘Distribution Lists’, ‘Recent Addresses’
and ‘Selected Addressees’ (not sure if the English terms are accurate,
my KMail is in the Dutch language). So the contents of the address books
simply don’t appear there.
However, if I manually start typing the e-mail address of someone who is
in one of the address books, the autocomplete hint in the composer will
show that person’s name as it is written in the address book. Clicking
the autocomplete hint/hitting the Tab key however will not result in the
entire e-mail address being autocompleted. That will make the composer
window unresponsive, KMail will not crash, but I have to close the
composer window then.
Possibly this issue is similar:

Akonadi Server Selft-Test dialog however).
