Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdeutils

Well, first of all, the programme did not exactly crash, but does not work as is meant to.
I tried to understand and use the security functions, i.e. create keys for signing and encoding emails and exchange the public key with a partner.
Creating the keys was not problem. Signing and encoding worked out alright, but I faced difficulties when I found out that my partner's provider offered s/mime encryption only.
After some time I discovered the package, loaded it down and tried to save the my partner's key and signature. Kpgp would not read and save the file.
After a while I understood (did I?) that kgpg needs another programme (kleopatra), which I duely loaded down and installed.
I undertook a series of attempts by sending emails to and fro, using my kmail and my partner's account via a browser.
I seemed to make some headway as I got one step further each time, but suddenly the keys would not be listed and kpgp would not create new encryption keys, saying error, it could not access the gnu...conf file.
I tried re-installing several components, but nothing changed. I may have installed "gpg bindings for the Ruby language" in the meanwhile, but cannot say for sure when I did that and whether kgpg disfunctioned after the installation.

By the way: in the discriptions (www.ubuntuusers.de) all seemed so straightforward. It isn't, or am I so stupid?
Why, eg, do the dependencies of gpgme (Was it this?) include the kde-package-manager and other things? Lots of things stopped working when I uninstalled a programme I had not on my system before?

libkpgp4 - 4:4.3.2-oubuntu6 (i386)
gpgv - 1.4.9-4oubuntu7
libpgpme11 -1.1.8-2ubunt3
gnupgagent
python-gnupginterface
gnupg
and some dependencies, but I cannot figure that out properly
I use kde Karmic Koala and I thing that I'm fairly up to date with updates
