Dear Mr Steve Langasek.

That you said on comment 76 is right (the ubuntu live session have open
drivers, the installed kubuntu nvidia closed drivers).

But it's necessary to use the closed nvidia drivers to work on a PC.
And for these reason, most people use them, and also canonical include them .

I think that is necessary to made a "real fix", to have a better graphic on boot (see my previous post).
And consider that in previous version, we don't have this problem.
